Below the rail sustainability good practice implementation

Ground Level Alliance are delighted to welcome Rail Track Association Australia (RTAA) as our support partner.

One of the RTAA’s stated aims is to co-operate with organisations that have similar interests and stakeholders, and the Rail Track Association Australia (RTAA) consider the objectives of the Ground Level Alliance to be extremely well aligned with those of the RTAA (as enshrined in RTAA’s constitution).

Specifically, the GLA’s aim to promote improved sustainability practices for below the rail civil construction across the Australasian region, via dissemination of industry best-practice from leading industry practitioners, parallels the RTAA’ aim to promote research, development and improved practice within the railway industry. Similarly, the GLA’s intent to promote sustainability via use of demonstrated case studies and provide practical resources and education opportunities to all stakeholders has, in RTAA’ opinion, the opportunity to generate significant improvements to the sustainability outcomes achieved within geomechanics based aspects of civil developments. This also aligns with the RTAA’ objective to provide relevant programs of training opportunities for our members.

On 17th August 2023, the Rail Track Association Australia – RTAA partnership with Ground Level Alliance was announced as part of their future direction on stage at the RTAA 50th Anniversary / RTSA – The Railway Technical Society of Australasia 25th Anniversary Dinner in Sydney. #sustainableconstruction #railinfrastructure.

RTAA President, Jonathan Barnes, commented:

“The RTAA welcomes the Ground Level Alliance to the Australasian rail fraternity and looks forward to partnering with the GLA for the benefit of all our members and interested parties. To this end, we hope to share resources and provide co-branded events that can advance the quality of practice and sustainability outcomes achieved by all aspects of our industry.”

GLA Chair, Robin Power, articulated the partnership like this:

“It’s people who are going to make the changes we need to see in the industry and we are delighted to have partnered with such an important organisation representing below the rail industry participants. We are very appreciative of RTAA’s ongoing support.”
