Defining ‘low carbon’ and ‘lower carbon’ concrete
Arup
This classification scheme enables both technical and non-technical experts across the value chain, from designers and contractors to manufacturers and project owners, to make informed decisions when specifying, procuring, and using concrete. It can also be used for setting embodied carbon targets for market interventions, to accelerate the development of the market for lower carbon concrete.
The A-G classification scheme for the embodied carbon of concrete is applicable to all normal weight concrete mixes, regardless of how they are produced or used.
