In December 2023, the Infrastructure and Transport Ministers’ Meeting approved a nationally consistent set of carbon values for use in transport infrastructure project decision making. 

In accordance with Infrastructure and Transport Ministers’ Meeting agreement in December 2023, Infrastructure Australia released a guidance note for Valuing emissions for economic analysis. This sets monetised values per tonne of carbon emissions to be used in Infrastructure Australia’s evaluation of infrastructure proposals requesting more than $250 million of Commonwealth funding.
