Best Practice Advice on Recycled Material Use in Road and Rail Infrastructure
Australian Road Research Board
Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) has put together a report (June 2022) which provides an independent, expert review on how to safely and successfully increase the use of recycled materials in road and rail infrastructure. The report examines 10 recycled materials for their potential use within road and rail infrastructure.
- Crushed Concrete and Brick
- Recycled Crushed Glass
- Reclaimed Asphalt Pavements
- Crumb Rubber
- Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
- Fly Ash
- Bottom Ash
- Recycled Solid Organics
- Recycled Ballast
- Recycled Plastics
The report, in two parts, shows significant economic and environmental benefits for the majority of recycled materials in road and rail infrastructure.
ARRB held a webinar on what it means for recycled material use in road and rail. You can also download a copy of the presentation.
